Banyan Tree Okinawa

The Banyan Tree Aburi was inspired by the ancient Japanese word “chōwa”, meaning “a spirit of harmonious partnership.” And an essential component to bridge these gaps has contrasting building blocks. For this property, the design team purposefully chose divergent pairs, such as stone material with wood, smooth textures with rough, and pop colours with neutral to show how harmony can be created from chaos and how juxtaposed elements can create a deep sense of calm and serenity. All the striking elements of coacting, as posited by “chōwa”, catch one’s breath as you walk through. Banyan Tree Aburi, Okinawa
